Halloween Costume Idea #15: Disco Fever

Do people ever tell you that you belong in a different era? I always hear that I should either be a flapper in the 20s or someone from the 70s. I assume, with my personality, that people mean the laidback 70s (ie. That 70s Show), but I can only hope they mean the 70s in the sense of a DISCO QUEEN.

Shop Update...Tees Me

I'm obsessed with old tee shirts. Seriously. Check out the about me section on this page. It's even written in there. As much I like to get dolled up, I equally enjoy a pair of sneakers, jeans, and a great worn tee.

That being said, I will be unloading a bunch of my own vintage tee collection this week on Etsy. It's time to find a new batch for myself. Many of the tees that will be listed are thrift store finds that I had to keep, as well some newer finds that are skipping my closet and heading straight to Etsy. Here are some in the shop right now.

You can find all of these (and many more to come) right over at Blue Butterfly Vintage. There were two more, but they sold. Holler!

Halloween Costume Idea #13: Madonna (Mostly 80s Madge)

I think the title says it all. I bring you, Madonna.

Halloween Costume Idea #11: Cheer It Out

Give me a C! Today's costume is a nice standby, because you can almost always find old cheer uniforms at local thrift stores.

Halloween Costume #10: The 80s Prom Queen (Dead or Alive)

I have a friend who goes as a dead 80s prom queen every Halloween, when she can't figure out a different costume. Morbid? Yes. Simple? Yes. Effective and cost efficient? Yes and yes. All of the choices below are available for under 25 dollars, so whether you go as a prom queen dead or alive, this is an economical costume.

Dollar Store Find of the Week: Almay Pure Blends

I love to buy pretty things that cost a lot of money. Unfortunately, my bank account says otherwise. Do you share a similar problem? I have a great idea for ya, dollar stores.

The Dollar Tree, if you don't know, is a store that sells EVERYTHING for a dollar. Now you might be thinking that since everything is a dollar, it must all be junk. I say, no, no, my friend, not junk. Well, some is definitely junk, but next time you are in your nearest dollar store, go check out the makeup aisle, which is where this week's find comes from. They get stuff from other stores that have either discontinued items or closed, which means you can find name brand stuff for a dollar.

Halloween Costume Idea #9: Beautiful Ballerina

Nothing overly creative today. Just a classic (and not so classic) ballerina. What can I say? I love the flick Center Stage in the cheesiest, chick flick way possible. This is mostly for the ladies, but would be awesomely hilarious on you dudes, as well.

Arts Festival aka Here Comes the Rain

Well, I went and sold my stuff (I make wire rings, rings from old broken earrings/bracelets, and artsy fartsy photography) at a festival out in the woods yesterday. I can't say it was a rousing success, as I made a small profit, very small, but I did get a lot of great feedback and some people who asked about various things, including selling some of my stuff wholesale.

Halloween Costume Idea #8: Go Raggedy

Cute little costume for couples today. Or creepy. I don't know how I feel about the resemblance to clowns that these two have. I give you, Raggedy Anne and Andy.

Friday's Fashion Picks 9.17.10

Your weekly installment of fashion ideas. This week is all about the activewear.

Halloween Costume Idea #7: The Golden Girls

PICTURE IT: Amazing costume for you and your friends to rock. I have the choices broken down by character. A little in love with this show.

Rose was way into yellows and greens. She rarely wore dark. Dorothy, on the other hand, consistently rocked dark tops. She was all about the oversized tunics and sequins, but always in a classy 80s way. Blanche's outfits were as vibrant as her personality. She was very Miami in sequined red tops or florals. Everyone's favorite, Sophia, was all about Grandma-style. And wicker purses.

No Costume Today (Boo?) But I Do Bring Giveaway Info

Well, this morning was quite busy and I really don't want to bring a lame, half thought out costume, so be sure to check back tomorrow, as it will be very golden...girls. You're jazzed, right?

Since that is sad news, I will now bring happiness. I have decided that my first giveaway will be up next week, but until then here are a couple for you to enter.

Purple Deer Vintage is giving away a seriously amazing Enid Collins purse. All you have to do is scoot on over and become a blog follower. You can gain additional entries for tweeting about it, blogging it(like this), etc. Very cool.

Vintage Vixen is having a number of giveaways for FabGabs, who had a featured item in yesterday's costume. Just head over and tell her something from FabGabs you love. That simple.

Huzzah Vintage is hosting a giveaway for Mother Midnight Vintage. You can win a $40 shopping spree by doing the same thing as the FabGabs giveaway.

Hopefully you can enter these fine contests and win something purrrty. :)

Happy Birthday to my Niece!

A very special shoutout to my niece, Victoria, who turns (gulp) NINE years old today. I cannot believe I was 16 when this little lady was born, but alas I was. Time flies. Now she's a big sister to that other little princess in the pics below. Siiigh. I'm getting old.

Halloween Idea #6: The Old College Try

Today's costume is more of an idea than a specific character. How about a college campus circa the 50s/60s? I realize some of these things are out of other decades. I'm no historian, so leave any snarky comments to yourselves. Spice these costumes up with some vintage books from your local thrift store and you're all set.

Top Picks for Tuesday: Hot Hot Jewelry

No real theme this week, aside from a general sense of awesomeness in each piece.

Hot Hot Jewelry

Halloween Costume Idea #5: Yeehaw!

Today's costume is the general idea of a western wear vibe. Going western doesn't always mean snap button shirts and cowboy boots(but sometimes it certainly does). Here are several ideas for your cowgirl/cowboy/western wear costumes. This one was so easy that there are a ton of choices. Sorry. Terrible at making decisions.

Fashion Debate: Why Do People Hate Uggs?

I think I just puked in my mouth a little.

Halloween Costume Idea #4: Romeo and Juliet

Today's costume was inspired by an earworm of a song. I can't get The Killers' cover of Romeo and Juliet out of my head. If you've never heard it, you can check it out over here.

Halloween Costume Idea #2: The Flapper

Can't go wrong being a flapper for Halloween, especially with some of these finds.

Halloween Costume Idea #1

I love Halloween. Every day I am going to try to bring you a few items that work cohesively together to make one kick-ass outfit for your parties come October 31st. Since we have to deal with shipping times, I will be starting a bit early, as in right now. Be sure to become a blog follower to check on further costumes, especially if you are an Etsy seller, as I will be taking every idea from things I find on Etsy.

Today's costume is a classic. I bring you Cinderella.

Fashion's Night Out Kicks Off Fashion Week

So, there's this little thing going on over in NYC, I don't know, maybe you've heard of it? I think it's called Fashion Week? Yeah. That's it. Last night it kicked off with Fashion's Night Out.

The other day I mentioned that tennis ace Roger Federer pals around with Anna Wintour. Well, here he is, on a day off from the US Open, sitting with Wintour and her new BFF, fashion starlet Blake Lively.

Shop Update - 9.7.10

In case you don't follow me on Twitter and you don't have my Etsy shop bookmarked(both of which you should be doing), I had a mini shop update tonight. You can check the following three new items before they're scooped up by someone else.

Blood is the New Black?

Don't confuse a recent issue of Rolling Stone with any of your fashion mags. You might read the message as blood is the new black. Don't worry, it's just the stars of True Blood. Naked. In faux blood. Hmm, let's not make this a new trend.

Top Picks for Tuesday - Awesomely Autumn

Every day I check the Etsy Find's like a child on Christmas morning hoping that a pair of my shoes will be featured. Every day my dreams are crushed. I did make it one time back in June, but I was out of town that weekend and never had the full oh.my.god. experience of it all. I have heard many other people with similar stories, so every Tuesday I am going to bring you my own finds of sorts. It will feature stuff from my shop, friends' shops, and even stuff belonging to complete strangers. I'm nice like that.

With the recent weather change, I have to go with an autumn (so cliche, right?) theme for today. Love the scents of autumn, as well as brown and orange tones. And so I bring to you the first ever Top Picks for Tuesday:

Awesomely Autumn

It's a Holiday. Let's Go Blow Some Cash.

What better way to spend a holiday than to shop? Today, my Mom and I went on a full day excursion around Buffalo with one idea in our minds: spending some serious dough.

Check out the trunk after we got home:

And most of the stuff, minus a bag or two out of the car:

Sports and Fashion: 2010 US Open Tennis Fashions

I am hugely obsessed with tennis. I have played it since I was a little kid and have attended many pro events. Loving tennis in America is about as useful as a flat tire. No one loves tennis here.

Alas, America does seem slightly interested when the US Open is going on. Don't love tennis? Then you should watch it for the fashion.

The US Open is an amazing blend of fashion and sports. The last major being Wimbledon where the dress code calls for all white clothing has both fans and many players yearning for the vibrant clothes that many unveil specifically for the tournament in NY. And so I bring you the top fashions of the 2010 US Open.

Friday's Fashion Picks

I will spare you the obligatory this is my first post thing. I help write over at Inflamed Temperament. We had one over there. Let's just dive right into the posts, shall we?

Every Friday I am going to bring you three fashion picks that I'm digging. And on with the show:
